There are many opportunities to choose an online broker. I use Scottrade but have only had dealing with one other. To the best of my knowledge any online broker can buy/sell stock on any market in the world.

I use Scottrade but there are many of them out there to try from. Its free to open an account and I believe a $500 minimum initial investment is required. This way you can make all your own investment decisions and use the tools and reports provided by Scottrade. All the online dealers have different rates, but Scottrade only charges $7 per transaction so you never have to worry about what you will be charged with the random fees charged by other brokers. Scottrade has never charged me a dime other than for my trades.

Scottrade transactions go through virutally instantly. I was very impressed with how quick my transactions are carried out and that my funds are available for trading immediately

If you open an account and use: PVMI2081 as your referral code, you will get 3 free trades to start with. Here is a link to their web site:

Scottrade is ok, but it’s not good for shorting stock nor for trading stock that has made recent huge percentage moves. Or for trading pre-market hours. If you’re interested in day trading, I hear good things about IB (Interactive Brokers), MB trading, TD Ameritrade, Think or Swim, Lightrade. No broker is perfect–there will always be times when connections can’t be made, trades can’t be made, date feeds are poor.

If I was in your position I would go for TD.
You can find a full review on their services on this page

Then if you need some help to back up your stock picks and double checks your position, you might want to use some free trading software such as
They have a great video on how to trade gold and crude oil.
It is a must watch.
