Is it possible to measure insider trading on major stock markets?

Anders asked:

What is the average percentage of insider trading on stock markets like Nasdaq and Dow Jones? Has there been any attempts to measure insider trading, and are there any historical trends visible?

Insider trading is public information. All company officials and executives most report this information to the SEC. The following site contains several links where you can find this information:

This information is available in Barron’s weekly newspaper, available each Monday or at your central library.

At Yahoo Finance, enter a stock symbol, then along the left side, click on “Insider Transactions” near the bottom. Here is the page for Boeing (BA)
